Marketing firm Semrush shared an infographic with the most popular social media platforms and various other information gathered in 2021.
Created by Semrush last October, the data comes from a variety of sources such as Pew Research Center, DataReportal, and Hootsuite, whose statistics appear accurate as of April 2021.
The definition of the list of âsocial media platformsâ is broad, covering social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, video sharing platforms like YouTube and TikTok, as well as messaging platforms like WhatsApp and WeChat.
The image shows Facebook leading the way, with around 2.8 billion monthly active users. According to the Pew Research Center, about seven in ten American adults (69%) say they use Facebook. Of these users, around seven in ten say they visit the site daily, half of them several times a day. In the United States, women use Facebook more than men, with 77% of women saying they use the platform, compared to 61% of men, as reported by Semrush. YouTube comes in second with about 2.3 billion monthly active users, or about 81% of all American adults.
The infographic also shows the companies behind each platform, highlighting the fact that Meta (formerly Facebook) operates four of the top five platforms, with Facebook, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram occupying one, three, four, respectively. and five places.
